Both these aspects were covered by some excellent and amusing speakers, with free teas and coffees and an unhurried Networking opportunity to chat to other business owners and swap details.
Advice from the FSB
As the main Sponsor of the event and their commitment to Leicestershire businesses, the FSB Regional Chairman Dave Nichols spoke about the 180,000 members, who have a big influence on Local Government, National Government, LEPs and their local communities.
The Free Legal support, free banking and the cheap as chips business insurance, easily pays for the annual membership of £130 and gives you many more benefits, including a multitude of free networking events in various locations across the County.
Business Gateway Growth Hub at LBE
This is a ‘single-access business support team’ that provides impartial free advice to ANY business from their Business Support Zone, live, at the LBE this year.
Jackie gave a great presentation about how the Biz Support Zone is available to help business owners with free advice, so do let your visitors know how much is on offer this year.
How to Get What You Want from the Show
A lively presentation from Carl Craig-West outlined the best and worst ways to manage your stand on the day. Carl has offered to send his presentation to anyone who would like it, so reply to Elaine Vandelli who will arrange this for you.
Carl covered all the messages involved in marketing, including getting publicity, building your contact list, delivering short, sharp and simple messages on the day, with a follow up process for more detailed conversations.
He also mentioned the importance of using your social media channels and doing your OWN publicity for the event, how to design a good leaflet, and the need to do away with the dull and boring ‘Drop-your-card-in-the-bowl-to-win-a-bottle-of-champagne’, which visitors now seem to avoid like the double-glazing salesmen.
Did I mention that Carl talked about Publicity?.. (You should have been there!)
Free Parking at Saffron Lane Athletic Club
After unloading your stuff, you will need to remove your car to Saffron Lane Athletic Club for the day, and catch the free shuttle bus back to the event to set up your stand, which will be running from 7.45 – 17.00
Networking Lunch Places Available
Finally, you will need to eat on the day, so why not book into the Networking Lunch and have a grab bag lunch, while you meet new business owners and invite them to your stand.
