#LeicsBE16 Leicester Business Expo almost Sold Out!

Bookings have been flying in over the last few months from businesses booking a space at the biggest marketing event in Leicester city all year.

Leicester Business Expo (#LeicsBE16) will be celebrating its 10th successful year on 27th October at Leicester Tigers, and the impact the show has had on local businesses has been massive. Other places to exhibit at such a large show, are often a lot more expensive, and apart from them being priced more per space; who wants the expenses involved in driving too far afield to service new customers?

Promote yourself at the event for FREE with Hashtag: #LeicsBE16

Organiser Elaine Vandelli, who is currently President of her Kibworth & Fleckney Rotary Club told us:

“The magic ingredient of the LBE is that Leicester businesses can promote themselves to a local audience, so the costs involved of dealing with a new client are vastly reduced. But don’t be fooled; local doesn’t just mean Leicester City based. There are companies booked into the show from across Leicestershire, and many are starting to book places from as far afield as Nottingham, Northampton and Derby.”

Last Few Exhibition Stands Available

Elaine is very keen to keep the event dedicated to businesses in Leicestershire, but they need to wake up and book in quickly, before the surrounding Counties can cash-in on this event to enlarge their customer base.

There are a few spaces still available for companies who need to display large items such as cars and vans, these are outdoors, and there are some 3m x 2m spaces available. With costs at just £180 for any new business, and £295 for standard and £350 for larger spaces; you can see the costs are negligible.

Special Price for New Businesses

The £180 fee is available to any business trading for under 18 months and works out to an annual marketing budget of just £15 per month, so for any sole trader or new venture, the cost of getting yourself a stack of new customers for the year really is a no-brainer, and as a legitimate business expense, will also go towards reducing your tax bill.  Only 2 left!

This makes it easier to budget for printing a few leaflets and having a pull-up banner made for the occasion. In fact, if you have a look through the businesses who have already booked their place,  you will find companies who can help with your promotional products – just tell them you found them on the LBE website!

Networking Niceties

Being a good Networker for your business is more than just handing out business cards. There are five important protocols of politeness that will turn you into an expert at networking, and we have named them our Networking Niceties…

Be Curious:

Imagine that everyone you meet at the event has a magic key that will unlock a secret door into a whole new business arena for you, and your task is to find out where it leads. You may find yourself talking to an Accountant, and you already have your own Accountant that you are happy with, so find out about the business they have as clients.

Ask questions about their preferred size of company, their areas of specialism, their funniest experiences and their most challenging clients. This will give you a lot of information about who they are connected to and you may find out that the very company you would like to pitch to, happens to be their favourite client…

Find Something to Give

genieThe second nicety is to find one thing that you can give them, and if you have only just met, this will be a great test of your networking skills. Why not ask who they would like to be introduced to, or if they are looking for a contact in any particular field.

There might be a contact you know who would be perfect for them to meet up with, and this will also forge a deeper relationship with the person you already know. So if you Accountant is looking to work with food service businesses, and you are on first name terms with your local Italian Restaurant, then introduce them both to each other after the event by email. Neither of them will forget you after this…

Learn Something New

dictionaryWhoever you meet at networking events, will usually be quite happy to share some of their knowledge with you, especially if you ask for their professional opinion on something, or their expert view of something.

Everyone from an Architect to a Zoo-keeper will have expert knowledge about their industry sector, so don’t waste time trying to sell them a service they don’t need, and use your chat to gain a useful tip or business insight. You can even ask them what their one top tip would be to a business like yours. You may be surprised at the answer….

Boost them on your Social Channels

It is hard enough trying to find useful and interesting things to say on your Tweets and Facebook posts all week, so meeting new people at networking events is an easy win for your, and their socials.  Ask them if they mind if you send a tweet about meeting them afterwards and make sure that their Twitter name is printed on their business card first, and if not, ask them what it is and write it on the back.

How nice it will be for them to see a tweet sent by you that says “I met Jane from Fabulous Accounting today at the XYZ Network meeting and learned a surprising fact about Fuel Expenses” They will probably re-tweet it or favourite it, and this means you automatically reach a whole new audience of their followers. We call that a win, win…

Ask for something

Everyone like to help others, but when they don’t know what you want, or what might be a big help this week, relying on telepathy or a lucky chance, is not something that should be in your business plan.

So ask for an introduction to someone, or a piece of advice on your new project, or for an invitation to their next Conference or a speaking slot (yes, be brave!) at their next Regional meeting. Everyone will do their best to help, so giving them a steer towards what can really help you, is simply good sense. Here are some ideas:

Do you have guest speakers at your Regional meetings? Do you happen to know any Good Aroma therapists in Leicester? Would you like an invitation to a Network meeting in Hinckley? Can you introduce me to any Estate Agents that may need to find a Plumber at short notice?

Building on these five Networking Niceties will keep your business in people’s minds, and make you the person to call when they need something….

market place We are already taking enquiries from businesses who make or trade in things such as: Handbags, Jewellery, Handmade Cards, Chocolates, and Gifts and we would like to receive calls from Artists and Artisans across Leicester who would benefit from having a brand new audience for their products.

5 Reasons LBE16 Exhibition is Great for Business!

Have you ever wondered why businesses take a stand at our Leicestershire Business Event every year?

Just what do they get back from it? Is it cost effective? are questions that we often get asked, so here are our 5 top reasons for you to consider taking a stand at the 2016 LBE event on 27 October 2016 at Tigers Ground…

  1. New Prospects: Exhibition surveys report statistics that say that on average, at a B2B exhibition, traffic to your stand will be made up of 12% of people that you already know or are in contact with, and 88% of businesses that you don’t. That means you are meeting local businesses that you can add to your mailing lists, show your new products to and make appointments with. All in one place, on one day. Let’s say you have 100 visitors, that means 88 new prospects, and if you divide the cost of the stand by 88, it gives you the cost of reaching each new lead at much less than a fiver… cheaper than buying a sandwich!
  2. Easier to Close the Deal: Research also tells us that sales taken at an exhibition are much easier to close than leads from cold calling methods. Furthermore, a whopping 54% of orders placed from new prospects at a trade show, need fewer or sometimes no follow-up meetings, saving you or your sales staff travel time and appointments time. (McGraw-Hill Research Foundation.)
  3. Reaching the right audience: Exhibiting is a really cost effective method of reaching your target market. If you supply products or services in Leicester City, or Leicestershire, it’s a great way of spreading the word about your company, building brand awareness and meeting other businesses that could benefit your supply chain,
  4. Beat your Competition. If your competitors are not there, you have a huge advantage over them by being visible and promoting your products. It may be that some of your visitors are not in the market right now for your products, but next week or next month, they may be. So who will they contact first? Will they trawl the internet looking for a local supplier? Yes, probably, but they are also much more likely to contact you first, since they already have a fleeting relationship with you. The rest is then up to you…
  5. Shop Window: These days, many businesses trade mostly on the internet, or have a premises tucked away in an industrial park, or in a business centre, so is sadly lacking in possibilities for new footfall. A local exhibition gives you a great shop window to really show off, let visitors handle your products, try them out, or take away a freebie that will keep you in their briefcase, pocket or on their desk.

These reasons are well known by many businesses, and the LBE Event this year is already taking bookings from businesses who don’t want to miss out on the best pitches. So if you have never tried it, or if you have attended as a visitor, why not give it a go this year? There are eight months until our October event, so plenty of time to plan your stand and invest in some freebies.

We nearly forgot – it is also great fun!
